About In Our Hands

The crises we face stem from one fact: a small minority controls our economy, government, and society, while the majority has no power or voice. To change that, regular people must organize and show their power to disrupt the systems we live in.

Whether it's on the job, at your apartment complex, or in your community, organizing starts with someone determined enough to connect with others and help them realize their power. An organizer, an activist, a radical. The purpose of In Our Hands is to show that these people are no different than you—and that you have everything it takes to be one of them.

The name of this publication is taken from “Solidarity Forever,” the anthem of the American labor movement:

In our hands is placed a power greater than their hoarded gold,

Greater than the might of armies, magnified a thousand-fold.

We can bring to birth a new world from the ashes of the old

For the union makes us strong.
